Harrison Hot Springs is one of my favourite ‘close to home’ destinations. We go there for camping, date nights, beach play, birthday celebrations and most recently on a girls fishing trip.

We made the night of it and decided to head out the day before to Harrison to enjoy dinner and a relaxing night in at Harrison Beach Hotel.

See my last visit to Harrison Beach Hotel Here.

On our way up, we stopped in at Sandpiper Golf Course in Harrison Mills. Also, home of the popular wedding destination and private lodging cabins, Rowena’s Inn. Right on that same property and the original home at Rowena’s Inn you can find the Clubhouse restaurant.

Honestly, I’ve never had a bad experience here. I have been a handle of times, most recent time before this was on my 30th birthday. Whenever I share that I’m visiting I always have a few people that reccomend the Salmon Wellington and I am sure that Paige will now tell everyone to get the Caesar because she said, “This is literally the best Caesar I have ever had, and I’ve had a lot of Caesar’s!”

The four of us (Paige, Adrienne & Bethany) spent most of the night just chatting, having a couple drinks, enjoying our meals and debating over going for the dessert or not. We decided not, just because we wanted to make it to Harrison Beach Hotel before the sun went down.

Checking in at the hotel was a breeze, as it always is. I’ve stayed here a number of times and the first thing on my mind is always how comfortable the beds are and the amazing lakeside view. Nothing beats going to sleep and waking up to the stillness of the lake and beauty of the mountains.

Our night ended in their outdoor hottub. Sharing some laughs and just relaxing, without kids. Ahh!

In the morning we grabbed a quick bite at the little cafe connected to Harrison Hot Springs Resort as one of my favourite spots to eat in Harrison, Muddy Waters Cafe, wasn’t open early enough before we had to leave for fishing.

We hopped on the boat at 9 AM with our sturgeon fishing licenses in hand, got the full run down on what the day was going to look like and discovered where all the safety gear is located.

I’ve been sturgeon fishing once before so I had a pretty good idea of what was in store. I’d say it’s a super relaxing time until something bites and then it’s go time!

We cruised out of Harrison Lake down to the Harrison River and then ended spending most of our day fishing in the Fraser River. Our guide from BC Sport Fishing Group was incredibly knowledgeable sharing about the family run business, experiences he has had, the importance of catching, tagging and monitoring the sturgeon’s and so much more.

We spent all afternoon with the rods in the water and towards the end of our adventure we got our first bite. I’m sure it’s a lot different being on a boat with a bunch of girls when a fish hooks than for boys because let’s just say we all let out a rather large “ AHHH!HH!!H!!!” haha!! One of our drinks went flying and Paige jumped up to grab the line the quickest.

She reeled in the sturgeon like a pro and we all stood for a photo, couldn’t not.

Our BC Fishing Group guide, Mer (if you are going make sure to ask for him!), showed us all the features of the sturgeon. This particular one had been caught before so he recorded some numbers to record and then Adrienne set him free again in the river.

What a cool experience.

All of us left the day feeling so refreshed and also so much more knowledgeable about what goes on in the fishing industry and learning new ways to contribute to help.

Just by going out on a day like we did, the cost of your fishing license goes back into helping with the study and conservation of sturgeon’s. For more information and ideas for things to do in Harrison check out both BC Sport Fishing Group and Tourism Harrison.

Thanks to Tourism Harrison for gifting this experience, it was such a pleasure to share our experience and try something new.

  • The other week @lovinglittlesblog and I were invited to participate in a black box cooking competition put on by @whitespot_restaurants and @eatdrinkbuybc in support of a charity of our choice. We competed against 8 other teams and created a pecan crusted chicken stuffed with goat cheese and fresh local blueberries. You guys.... it was GOOOOOD! But, there were lots of amazing dishes created that afternoon and even though we didn't win we were still able to donate $200 to the charity of our choice, @bcwomens.

Fun fact: White Spot and Triple O's serve more than 49,000 pounds of fresh blueberries in their menu items, all from local farmers across BC. That's a lot of blueberries and a lot of local love! Starting today blueberries have returned to all White Spot and Triple O's locations but are only available for a limited time while Mother Nature allows. We got to try their fresh BC blueberry milkshake and fresh BC blueberry pie this afternoon, still drooling.

  • Hello Buddha•Full friends. Happy weekend 🙌🏻🙌🏻 If you have time you should head over to @shopwillowbrook and the @buddhafullprovisions pop-up bus for a unique foodie experience! They are here today and tomorrow from 11AM-6PM for all your plant-based & vegan food needs. Soooo good! The kids slurped on some smoothies, and I enjoyed their Açai bowl up on the top of the bus as the summer sun radiated down. I guess you could say the whole experience is designed for a Budda-full life 😉 #ad #shopwillowbrook
  • Ok guys. @thebirdspapaya is a freaking babe, in and out. She’s started #SLOWMOBODYFLOW and her post had me like 😳🙊😅😂🥰 all the feels. But mostly left me feeling like, I gotta try this. For me, when I share progress photos like photo one, I always feel weird because even though I look smaller I know that the jiggle is still there, even though YOU cant see it. I’m so proud of where I’ve come this year in being more active and feeling stronger. Yes sometimes I wish I didn’t jiggle, but this post from Sarah got me excited to share that jiggle (swipe left) and not feel weird about it so I’m hopping right into her convo with a little SLOMO tummy jig.

  • “At the end of the day all that matters is love and memories, so make sure you give it and make sure you make them.” — Trent Shelton
  • So I did a thing and tried something new (surprise surprise, right ha!)

I wanted a new style sunnies for this summer, but I loved the frames so much I also wanted them to be my everyday indoor glasses too. Well, I went for it, splurged a bit and got my first pair of transition lenses. One minute they are perfect for indoors and the next I'm rocking sunnies in the sunshine. Took me a bit to get used to, but easily my frames of choice these days. #ad #irisvisualgroup 📷@juliechristinephotography
