There isn’t much going on at a first birthday party for the birthday child. I mean let’s be honest they most likely are more into the tissue paper and gift bags then the actual presents (one of the reasons we chose to do a no gifts party) and they don’t really play with their friends… so what else are we going to do. A floral first birthday cake smash of course. Our birthday girl is bound to love to smash her hands and face into their cake, right?
I really wasn’t sure how Evelyn would respond to the whole cake smash thing. Would she love it and get right in there or not? But after watching her look at it and slowly pierce her fingers in the backside of the cake I wasn’t surprised. She has always been a pretty cautious little one (unlike Sophie haha!). She asses the situation, gets a feel for it and then once she gets comfortable, she goes for it.
It was so cute watching her poke away at the icing, trying a few little tastes at a time. As myself and James came up by her side she decided that it was time to share, squishing the icing from her fingers to ours. How sweet of her. Her sister and a few other kids from the party all wanted to get a taste too. I mean what kid wouldn’t though, look how cute that cake is!

You did such a great job on her birthday. I loved seeing how methodical she was with the cake smash and then just going for it!
Thanks so much Tamara, it was so nice that you guys could make it! I was just looking at the books that you got her tonight too, so so cute! Thank you for those.
