In October we styled our house for a frozen themed birthday party for Sophie’s 5th birthday. First of all (where has the time gone!?) it’s already a few months past her birthday and second, how the heck is she 5 already!! I’m so happy to be (finally) putting together a blog post everything I did to put together her Frozen themed birthday party decorations.

One of her first requests for this party was to have Princess Elsa at the party. We had been a to couple of her friends birthday parties in the year where their favourite princess was present and knew it would be a party to remember for her. We looked into How to Hire a Princess in the Vancouver area and in the end had Elsa from Believe Party & Entertainment come.

I put a full blog post together on the details for “How to Hire a Princess” so feel free to check that out and everything that came along with it.

Frozen Themed Birthday Party Highlights

  • The most beautiful cake and cookies decorated and designed by The Cake Mama. Not only do her cakes look amazing they taste even better, I was blown away with these creations!
  • Hand cut snowflakes for the back drop. We spent the morning of the party ( Yes, I am that last minute) cutting out all these little snowflakes and I love the texture it added to the backdrop.
  • Marshmallows, white cheddar popcorn and wafer cookies filled in glass jars with snowflake cookies to make them pop.
  • Snowman making kits. Filled a bag with marshmallows, pretzel sticks and chocolate chips and had the kids get together around the table to create little snowmen they could eat.
  • Twinkle lights, white florals add wicker baskets added more texture and depth to the frozen themed decorations, adding just that little bit more to make the desserts pop.

The decor was simple to put together, I hired out help for the cake and cookies (amazing job The Cake Mama!) and so day of all I had to do was put it all together.

I’m all about keeping it simpler and not going too over the top while still creating a memorable party that doesn’t break the bank. A lot of the items I already had at home, the baskets, lights, faux fur and even handmade the backdrop.

If you don’t want to have the Disney cups and plates, I hope these Frozen themed party decorations show you just how easily you can have a successful Frozen themed party without them.

Whenever I share about our family off on another adventure I’m often asked about what it’s like travelling with three kids. Sometimes it will be comments like “brave mama” or something of the sort. Which I totally understand, it can seem so overwhelming to travel with kids. But I want to encourage you all to not hold back by how tired you might be ... or that you won’t be able to relax as much if your kids weren’t there. Travelling with your kids, seeing new places through their learning eyes is refreshing in itself. Tiring yes, but so so rewarding.

How do you feel about travelling with kids?
  • I made these for Mother’s Day and then decided to keep them
for myself. Ha!

Using my @canoncanada PIXMA Printer and
their restickable paper, I put together a quick and easy DIY that would make a perfect gift for someone.. or for yourself.

Thanks for ALL the recommendations for everything to do in Gibson’s and the surrounding area. There are SO MANY awesome locally owned shops we want to discover still. Today started with a 🛥 tour by @sunshinekayaking as we explored along @sunshinecoastbc and the surrounding islands, we grabbed ☕️ at @beachcombercoffee and 🍦 at @mikesplace2003 along with food at @black.bean.cafe #yum !

Explored a little along the 🏖 and then discovered everything within @gibsonspublicmarket — leaving with some 🧀 🥖 🍎 for afternoon snacks. See everything in my stories including some sea creatures from @nsmec 🦐 🐟 🦀 sooo cool!! A quick 🚎 ride home with @bc_transit for a rest before the kids start begging to go for a 🏊‍♂️ 🏊‍♀️... it’s definitely tiring travelling around all day with three kiddos but my mamas some sort of superhero and their eagerness to learn and love for exploring makes it 💫🙌🏻🥰

One more day to #exploreBCbybus — excited to see what’s to come.
  • I’m surprised you can’t see the wrinkles on our bodies from the camera after our three hour swim this afternoon.
We got up at 630AM to make sure we had enough time to finish packing 🤦🏼‍♀️ and drive out to catch our @bcferries — after a quick ⛴ ride over we all hopped on the @bc_transit city 🚎 into Gibson’s and then further into Sechelt ... where we became water prunes. 🏊
I’ve been asked to share an article for @bc_transit on our experience as we #exploreBCbybus 🚎 — the next few days I’ll be sharing on my Stories some of the places we explore too! I’d love to hear your recommendations on places to eat, thanks to a lovely follower for suggesting dinner at 🍔 @pklsburgers, we are pleasantly stuffed.

Where should we go next?? 🌊 ☀️ We’ll be around Gibson’s and Sechelt the next two days.

Also, just gotta add... my mom makes a pretty great #InstagramGrammy 🙌🏻🥰🤣
  • You don’t need to birth a child to be a mama. I don’t talk about being a step-mama very often, mostly because overall it doesn’t feel any different then being a mama to the kiddos I birthed. Everyone’s journey to motherhood looks and feels different, some may seem easier but each unique with their own challenges. Wherever you are in your motherhood journey today, I want to say that you are loved, you are appreciated and you are exactly what the child you are mothering needs.
