Minimalist Style Girls Shared Bedroom Decor

We have officially been at this house for a year now and it took this long to finally complete the girls bedroom. One bedroom down, two more to go! It feels so great to have the girls shared bedroom styled. I have been moving towards a much more minimalist style the last few years now and feel that the floral wallpaper, simple shelving and pastel colours all work well to create a welcoming feel without being too much clutter. The room is a small bedroom for two sisters to share, but I think that it works well. Less is always so much more.

Note: Some items featured within the room were gifted to us from the company. As always, we only share about items that fit well into our lifestyle and we truly enjoy.

My first task to creating their space was installing the floral wallpaper (light pink floral from Wayfair.ca). I called on the helping hand of my friend Keisha, Loving Littles Blog, one day to tackle this project. As we went through applying the wallpaper, I was so glad that I had another set of hands. Through it was pretty simple to put up, with kids running around it was required. We spent the afternoon applying the wallpaper.

Little hack: Use a paint roller to add a light amount of water to the back of paste-able wallpaper to evenly disperse water.

The walls in the room were previously a medium tan colour. I found that it made the room look super shadowy and was not a fan of the tone. After a little convincing my husband agreed that we he would paint the walls to match the rest of our house, Winter White. So glad we did this! I love how crisp it looks, feel that it lightens up the room so much and it just looks so much more airy in the small space they have to share.

The girls have shared a bedroom since around the time that Evelyn turned one. Most nights one of them ends up in our bed at some point, but we still love that they are learning to share space, communicate with each other and build a stronger relationship from the experience. Looking back at my childhood I was always sharing a room with one of my sisters and always loved the connection that it built between us.

It might look like a small bedroom for two sisters but it’s just right for these two. We aim to keep most of the toys out of their bedroom and their closet is in our room. We still need to figure that one out. Maybe a little DIY house shaped portable closet is in order. Wouldn’t that be cute!

For now I am just happy that there are decor pieces on the walls, the floral wallpaper is up and the girls are loving it! Keeping it simple is totally worth it, easier to up keep and still looks adorable.
