I could not believe how easy it was to make by own Balloon Garland backdrop. I honestly thought it was going to take multiple hours the night before Evelyn’s birthday (yes, I procrastinate), but it didn’t! Mind you, I didn’t go as big as I would have liked. I am so pleased with the outcome though, one of the easiest DIY’s I have done in a while. Follow the steps on how to make a balloon garland below and you will be just as impressed as me!

For this particular party I wanted it to be fairly simple. Adding the eucalyptus was actually a last minute thought. In the end I am glad I added it, though it does make it a bit trickier when building to add objects. I think it would have looked awesome plain as well. Whether you want to keep it simple to just balloons or add features to it make sure you always have a firm structure to tie it up onto.

Now in the title I call it a Simple. It is very much on the simpler side. If you don’t believe me, head to Pinterest and type in “Balloon Garland” in the search. You will   most likely find multi-coloured, gadget hanging, extra large garlands that are out of this world. I love those, but they aren’t so much achievable for me. At least not in the wee hours of the night, the night before the party. So here we are;

Materials:

    • Thin Pliable Wire
    • 40+ Balloons (I used just under 40 for the one pictured)
    • Dried Eucalyptus (if desired)

Believe it or not, that is all I used to make this guy. Simple right!

Directions:

  1. Pull some wire aware from the spool. Do not cut it to the correct length as you are going to be bending and wrapping around the balloons.
  2. Leave about 1/2 a foot from the edge to begin. You want to leave this space to have to tie the garland up with.
  3. At the 1/2 foot in mark twist the wire around the first balloon. I twisted right over the know on the balloon.
  4. Every inch-ish (a bit less then an inch) tie on another balloon.
  5. Continue doing this until you are about a foot past the length that you want. You can now cut the wire from the spool if you wanted.
  6. Hold the garland up to get an idea of how the balloons will hang. Fill in any holes with extra balloons, same method of twisting just above the knot.
  7. Once you fill the gaps, viola! You are done!

If you are thinking about adding more detail and hanging objects, florals, etc to the garland. Do this before you hang it up. Everything is so much easier to do and manipulate when it is laying flat on the ground. For those I would cut small pieces of wire and individually tie them into place with wire for a more secure hold as objects will be much heavier then the balloons.

Have fun making your simple (or maybe not so simple) DIY Balloon Garland Backdrop and don’t forget to take a lot of photos!

My friend Julie from DearLoves Blog had a Balloon Garland for her son’s Donut party. It looked amazing and she told me that she got a Balloon Garland string that was actually made for making these garlands. So if you are feeling like you want to snatch one of those, I am sure you can google it and find one too! I have also heard that fishing wire works great, though I think I prefer the metal pliable wire as you can manipulate it so much better.

Whenever I share about our family off on another adventure I’m often asked about what it’s like travelling with three kids. Sometimes it will be comments like “brave mama” or something of the sort. Which I totally understand, it can seem so overwhelming to travel with kids. But I want to encourage you all to not hold back by how tired you might be ... or that you won’t be able to relax as much if your kids weren’t there. Travelling with your kids, seeing new places through their learning eyes is refreshing in itself. Tiring yes, but so so rewarding.

How do you feel about travelling with kids?
  • I made these for Mother’s Day and then decided to keep them
for myself. Ha!

Using my @canoncanada PIXMA Printer and
their restickable paper, I put together a quick and easy DIY that would make a perfect gift for someone.. or for yourself.

Thanks for ALL the recommendations for everything to do in Gibson’s and the surrounding area. There are SO MANY awesome locally owned shops we want to discover still. Today started with a 🛥 tour by @sunshinekayaking as we explored along @sunshinecoastbc and the surrounding islands, we grabbed ☕️ at @beachcombercoffee and 🍦 at @mikesplace2003 along with food at @black.bean.cafe #yum !

Explored a little along the 🏖 and then discovered everything within @gibsonspublicmarket — leaving with some 🧀 🥖 🍎 for afternoon snacks. See everything in my stories including some sea creatures from @nsmec 🦐 🐟 🦀 sooo cool!! A quick 🚎 ride home with @bc_transit for a rest before the kids start begging to go for a 🏊‍♂️ 🏊‍♀️... it’s definitely tiring travelling around all day with three kiddos but my mamas some sort of superhero and their eagerness to learn and love for exploring makes it 💫🙌🏻🥰

One more day to #exploreBCbybus — excited to see what’s to come.
  • I’m surprised you can’t see the wrinkles on our bodies from the camera after our three hour swim this afternoon.
We got up at 630AM to make sure we had enough time to finish packing 🤦🏼‍♀️ and drive out to catch our @bcferries — after a quick ⛴ ride over we all hopped on the @bc_transit city 🚎 into Gibson’s and then further into Sechelt ... where we became water prunes. 🏊
I’ve been asked to share an article for @bc_transit on our experience as we #exploreBCbybus 🚎 — the next few days I’ll be sharing on my Stories some of the places we explore too! I’d love to hear your recommendations on places to eat, thanks to a lovely follower for suggesting dinner at 🍔 @pklsburgers, we are pleasantly stuffed.

Where should we go next?? 🌊 ☀️ We’ll be around Gibson’s and Sechelt the next two days.

Also, just gotta add... my mom makes a pretty great #InstagramGrammy 🙌🏻🥰🤣
  • You don’t need to birth a child to be a mama. I don’t talk about being a step-mama very often, mostly because overall it doesn’t feel any different then being a mama to the kiddos I birthed. Everyone’s journey to motherhood looks and feels different, some may seem easier but each unique with their own challenges. Wherever you are in your motherhood journey today, I want to say that you are loved, you are appreciated and you are exactly what the child you are mothering needs.
