Over spring break the kids and I had the opportunity to go visit the Vancouver Aquarium, with so much excitement from my son about the “Discover Rays” exhibit. This exhibit provides a hands on experience with the Rays, you get to watch them soar through the water and feel them slip beneath your fingers.
I didn’t quite know how excited Ezra would be about this experience, as not every kid will jump at the opportunity to place their hand in a pool of Rays but I was surprised at just how much him both him and Sophie enjoyed it.
The exhibit is open throughout regular hours of the aquarium, though it does close down periodically to give the Rays some rest between the flow of children and adults. The kids chose to wait to be one of the first’s in line at the 2PM showing of the Rays, we got a nice spot right up close and personal. After we had a good visit I encouraged the kids that we needed to let others have a turn, it wasn’t easy prying them away from this attraction.
Both Ezra and Sophie continued to talk about this experience once we got home. It was Sophie’s first trip to the aquarium and she learnt a new favorite word while we were there, “Whhaalllee!!!” was what I heard for a lot of the drive home and then in the bath that night she kept saying, “Fishy, Mommy, Fishy!!”
Check out some of the photos we snapped of our recent visit at Discover Rays as well as as more shots throughout the Vancouver Aquarium.
