Birthday High Tea at Tracycakes Bakery Cafe

December 15, 2016

SMALL BUSINESS FEATURE

The past weekend was a winter wonderland for us in the valley, making it an extra special birthday for me. I had planned to stay home all day on my birthday and then enjoy a late morning/afternoon out with my sisters the following day. The holiday season is always so rush rush I wanted to make sure that we would have a relaxing time and be able to enjoy each other’s company within the busy holiday season. The snow just added more charm to the day and ended up allowing for the most intimate high tea date at Tracycakes Bakery Cafe we could have asked for.

I booked our high tea reservation for 10AM on Sunday morning, when we arrived our table was waiting for us, set up with teacups and side plates. It was most of our first times having a high tea before and we were so excited to see how it all worked. Our waitress offered us a tea and coffee as you can choose either, we all opted for a tea as their specialty tea collection has a large number of delicious options.

I think one of the best parts about the whole high tea was that the decision of tea or coffee was really the only decision that we needed to make. Once our teas were delivered it wasn’t long until we were brought out our “On The Menu” High Tea. The three tiered dish was filled with tasty assorted mini finger sandwiches, mini quiches, freshly baked scones (with homemade devonshire cream, yum!), assorted dainties, baby cakes and fresh fruit.

Tracycakes also has Four High Tea options: On the Menu High Tea, a Champagne High Tea (might have to try this one next time), Gluten Free High Tea and a Children’s High Tea (what a cute kid’s party idea!)

Our waitress shared all about the layers of treats that were displayed for us and even joked that it was ok to start from the bottom to the top or the top to the bottom. The top to the bottom is definitely tempting. The bottom layer of assorted mini sandwiches were all so delicious and different from each other, allowing each bite to be full of new flavours. Their homemade devonshire cream for the scones was a first time try for me and I must say will not be the last. The top layer was loaded with a number of assorted brownies, cupcakes and other little bite sized treats.

Throughout our whole experience we felt well taken care of, relaxed (even with three babies in attendance), and our bellies were filled. It was the perfect way to get together with the ones that I love to celebrate my birthday, the quiet atmosphere allowed for good conversation and we spent a couple of hours there without even realizing it. After our tea we were able to visit a couple shops located down the same street as Tracycakes to create the perfect afternoon engagement.
