Moving With Kids

We Are Finally Done Moving!

That honestly felt like the longest move ever. Most likely because it was. We got possession of our new house on the 15th and didn’t have to be out of our old place until the end of the month. With so much going on we decided to just go slow and steady. Can’t really say if I think that was the best idea or not. It seemed to be good for us at the time and honestly don’t know if we would have had a weekend to do all the moving in one go, but it really did seem to be a looonngggg haul.

I got a lot of great moving tips on this Instagram post. Always appreciate your comments!

Yesterday I met with our landlords and we passed the keys back over. Phew! Done. I walked the house with Sophie and doubled checked each room. As we were heading back to our van she stopped in our driveway and said, “But this is our house mom? Why are they still in it?” I explained to her as well as I could about how we needed to move and I do think she understood most of it.

I was curious about how the move would go with the kids. They did so well when we moved last year, that I wasn’t too worried about it. So far this past week and a bit that we have been at our new place, it has been great! Even though the house is a bit smaller, it feels like there is so much more space (could be because half our stuff is still in boxes though, hmm).

Not only are the kids taking the move really well, I am personally feeling so good about it. I didn’t love the other place that we were in. I tried really hard to be grateful for it and felt like near the end before we found out that we had to move that I was accepting it. Since moving though, I just feel so much better here. It is hard to explain but I have told people it just breathes better.

The lighting is better (something I complained a lot about at the last house) and the yard space is so great for the kids. I am so excited for the memories that we will make here. I am excited to arrange and decorate the rooms, but first to paint the walls white… as soon as my husband jumps on board with the idea. Oh and unpack… here we go.
