Favourite Places

Ever since Van Mural Fest (Vancouver Mural Festival) a few months back I have been itching to get out to the city and discover all the new and beautiful colourful walls in Vancouver that were created. Well, after a recent visit to Strathcona and stumbling across a few there Julie and I decided to head down to Main Street after and discover more Murals in Vancouver. Surprisingly, the murals we found were all really close together (besides the 10 minute drive from Strathcona to Main Street).

Julie and I have split it up, you can find half of the murals we found below and then the other half you can check them out on her post here.

Some of the Vancouver murals were absolutely HUGE, spanning so wide and so tall! It was impossible to get them in a full shot.

Another listed is a building that is painted pink, solid pink walls all the way around. Not really a mural in Vancouver, but a vary colourful wall of Vancouver often spotted on Instagram. We discovered it on our way from Strathcona to Main Street and of course had to stop for a photo.

If you are a mural fan, you also might want to plan a trip to Portland, Oregon. I went last summer and my sister and I biked around the city discovering Portland murals along the way. That’s what started this whole mural and colourful wall fascination.

Not all of the names of the Vancouver murals are their actual names, I am in the process of looking up the actual names and artist, comment below if you know them . I felt like that needed a little disclaimer.

  1. The Pink Wall

This is the pink wall/pink building that I was talking about. All pink all the way around. One of my favourite colourful walls of Vancouver.

  2. The Wild Cartoon Wall

This one is honestly so big! Impossible to get all in one shot! I would be curious to know how long it took from start to finish. Right around the corner from this one you can find a few more too! (See below)

  3. The Flying Birds, Cherry Blossoms & Birds Nest

The perfect spring mural. Love the combination of baby blue and pale pink to create this colourful wall. This mural was quite large, the images below depending on where you stand in front of the Vancouver mural it captures a completely different scene.

  4. The Bright Pink Wall with Coloured Circle

This painted tin colourful wal in Vancouverl is right down the street from Strathcona Beer Company (a must visit place while you are in the area, more info here). You could get a photo with just the bright pink or add in a bit of blue as seen below.

  5. “Lady Mermaids” – Lani Imre, Bronwyn Schuster, Amanda Smart & Tia Rambaran

Notice the hand holding, pretty cuddly right? ha! This little guy is on the back side of the building which features a mermaid wall That mural is featured in Julie’s post.

  6. Low Bros // Basketball Wall

The first image doesn’t really make the mural look like a basketball one, but it was just a wee snap of the actually really large mural. When you step back (second image) you can see much for of the mural. I was a fan of this section (first image).

  7. Pink Glow – Sarah Delaney

I must say, this is MY FAVORITE. It was actually one of the ones from Van Mural Fest that REALLY stood out to me and got me the most excited about discovering more Vancouver Murals. This wall did not dissapoint friends. I even discovered the artist for this one, you can find her on Instagram: @sarahdelaneyart

  8. Woman Holding a Heart & Pineapple

I didn’t even realize she was holding a heart until I went to write a title for this one. It’s not everyday you see a painting of a woman holding a heart and a Pineapple is it. This woman and the mural below “Music to my Ears” were right beside each other on East Third Street.
