Before we left for Mexico this Spring we went into IRIS to check out their new sunglass styles. I wanted to get a pair that I didn’t have prescription lenses so that I had something to wear when I have my contacts in. My husband was interested in getting a new style and the kids all needed frames with UV protection. I went a couple days before them to find a pair for myself and while I was there asked about what sunglass styles are trending to be the most popular for 2019.

Since I already own a rounded pair, which was what I picked out in 2018. They are still a favourite style, though this year I was looking for a bolder frame.
With the help of the wonderful ladies (seriously, these ladies are amazing) I found a pair that I absolutely love. We also discussed what’s trending this year, styles they see selling the fastest and which brands are most popular. Style number three was the lucky winner from me and are the pair that I brought with me to Mexico.
Top Four Sunglass Trends for 2019
1. Clear Frames
I’ve seem them popping up more and more across my social media, and not just in prescription lenses. This year don’t be surprised if you see more and more people rocking clear frame sunglasses.
2. Coloured Reflective Lenses
This pair I styled on my stories in two different colours. This blue pair as well as a coloured pink. I put up a poll for everyone to choose their favoured colour and pink won at 59%. Blue was my personal favourite but seems that pink was the most popular. Reflective lenses has been an increasingly popular trend throughout the last couple years.
3. Slight Cat Eye
Styles always recycle themselves and a slight cat eye has proven to be popular. This particular pair the cat eye is very slight as the frames are more slim. A thicker frame will give you a more dramatic cat eye.
4. Maui Jims
One of the most popular sunglass brands that IRIS carries. The girls were so excited to have me try on some Maui Jims and I totally understood why. Their lenses are made thinner and lighter then standard glass, allow a more crisp look and the best for scratch resistance.
I was beyond happy with my glasses as we travelled to Mexico. I treated them like another little baby, keeping them in their case when not in use and locked them in our safe when not being needed. Looking forward to seeing where else we adventure to this year through those lenses.
