A night out. Think about that for a minute, when is the last time you got to take a night out. Hopefully it wasn’t that long ago, but for most I feel like it hasn’t happened for a while. For myself personally, it had been a few months since I got a night out, a break from motherhood, and some time with girls friends. Knowing that a lot of you are likely on the same page, we wanted to document our stay, encourage you to take a night out to yourself soon.

Thank you so much to The Burrard for partnering on this post. All views and opinions of the hotel and our stay are always my own.

History of The Burrard Hotel

The Burrard Hotel originally opened it’s doors in 1956 as The Burrard Motor Inn. It had mid-century colour combined with west coast vibes, originally just catering to the automobile culture after a few years expanded to offer more for travellers. This is when their lush garden courtyard and cocktail bar. Many guest enjoyed their drinks in style in this space that escaped the city feel.

Now, six decades later, The Burrard Hotel has seen renovations which refreshed it’s lobby, rooms and amenities. With the renovation came a much more contemporary feel, while still holding onto it’s retro mid-century style. With the blooming courtyard that makes you feel like you are in a tropical place, and the chic and modern rooms The Burrard offers a look a feel that you can’t get anywhere else in the city.

About Our Stay

When we first arrived at the hotel it was such a pleasant surprise to find out that they have their own parking stalls, right at the hotel. You can access their private lot by pulling up to the front of the hotel and checking in to obtain your room key card. As we went up the elevator and exited out to find our room we were taken back by the gorgeous courtyard. I instantly felt like I was away on a tropical vacation, despite the Vancouver weather.

We got a look inside two of their rooms, one king bed and the other with two twins. Both room had a very minimalist feel with bright white walls, modern furtniture and one statement art piece. The bathroom followed the same feel with a crisp white tile, tub and curtains. I couldn’t help but notice the Nespresso machines, where you can make and enjoy complimentary Nespresso during your stay.

Both the coffee shop, Elysian Coffee, and Burgoo Bar + Restaurant that are located just underneath The Burrard Hotel were equally delicious. You really don’t have to go to far to feel well fed, rested and relaxed when staying here. We enjoyed dinner at Burgoo Bistro after we checked in and got settled. In the morning we had a chance to try Elysian coffee, they offer a few breakfast options, pastries, locally made juice and of course delicious coffee.

The best part, I slept like a baby. Their rooms are equipped with cushion top mattresses and high quality bedding to ensure a good nights sleep. We were not disturbed by any noises from the city and found the atmosphere so relaxing. Waking up in the morning and being about to open your door to the garden oasis was a cherry on top. It’s nice to have the option to easily to pop outside and get fresh air, without needing to go far from your room.
