Did you hear that the Abbotsford Tulip Festival is open? ha! Totally kidding. I know you know. But you know what else I know, that not everyone knows some of the new rules. New rules? Keep reading to find out what I am talking about.

One year ago when we visited the Abbotsford Tulip Festival I was pregnant. I would have been about 6 months along and definitely rocking a bump. My sister-in-law and I visited and she snapped some photos of me. (View post here)

This year I got to go bright and early on a media visit with all three of the kids. It was a really awesome experience as there was next to no one else there. On top of that we went early enough that my son could come out before school, he misses 99% of our photoshoots so I was thrilled to capture his handsome face.

As I walked the property I couldn’t stop saying, “oh these are pretty,” as literally every new variety caught my eye. There are many different varieties in the fields and millions of tulips planted. That’s a lot of pretty flowers. With all the flowers, and all the people, and all the dirt, and all the rain,… you get the idea… there has to be some things to know to get the most of your visit.

Abbotsford Tulip Festival | 5 Things to Know Before Visiting

  1. Buy Tickets in Advance

Weekends sell out and you do not want to be that person. That person that walks up to buy a ticket and “sorry, we are sold out,” is the first thing you hear. Tickets online are cheaper, I repeat Cheaper then at the door & guarantee you entry. I’d call that a win. Buy tickets here.

*Weekend visitors, note tickets are mandatory.

  2. Wear Boots

If you haven’t already seen on social media and you forgot that it has rained for the past, I dunno… forever, wear your boots. Just like you would any farm, the Abbotsford Tulip Festival is a farm, it’s muddy and if you wear anything that isn’t easy to clean, you can kiss those shoes goodbye.

  3. Use Their Hashtags

If you are going to the Abbotsford Tulip Festival and aren’t posting an image on social media, skip right over this point. However, if you are 99.9% of the population that is, we want to see your images. Not only that, you could also win something awesome! Use the tag #bloomsbest2017 on Instagram to be entered into one of these categories; Kids , Couples, Pets, Scenery, Portraits. Abbotsford Tourism will be awarding a prize. For more information visit this Instagram post. More hashtags include #colourinthecountry #abbotsfordtulipfestival & #locklipsfortulips

  4. Go With a Local (Someone from Abbotsford)

On Tuesday and Thursday nights if one person from your party has anAbbotsford address (must show valid Driver’s License with Abbotsford address) you all can get in for $2.00, heck yes! Don’t forget it’s after 3PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.

  5. Don’t Leave Without Tulips

Have you ever bought tulips from the grocery store #guilty! Well stop doing that, the tulips for sale at the Abbotsford Tulip Festival are $5.00 a bunch (10 stems), that is double the stems you would get at your local Save-on for the exact same price. On top of that, if you buy 4 bunches for that steal of a deal, you get a 5th bunch for free. Yes, they take debit and credit.

One last note, make sure to check the weather because we all know that it has been all over the place lately. Have fun and take a heck of a lot of photos, you know I did!

On a side note, this one piece bathing suit has become a favorite for wearing as a shirt. I love how it looks with some high waisted shorts.⠀

  • Oh July, you've been a wild month so far. We've started to move, Ezra broke his collarbone, Evelyn turned one and got her first tooth, I got some not awesome news (see two posts back), and we continue to slowly move. We still have our five year anniversary to celebrate. Talk about time flying and everything happening all at once.
