We got to spend two nights at the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre recently, and if you followed my Instagram stories then I am sure you know how much we loved it! For anyone else that missed it, I wanted to share some photos, more info about the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre, and some ideas of things to do with your kids in Whistler during winter.

My mom joined the kids and I on our Whistler adventure. She hadn’t been up to Whistler for over ten years. It was interesting to hear from her how much it had changed over the years. Whistler really does have something for everyone!

Disclosure: We were given a complimentary stay at the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre in Whister. As always, all views and opinions shared are our own honest reviews.

The Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre is located in the heart of Whistler. The prime location is perfect for those coming to ski/snowboard and experience Whistler dining and shopping.

My mom, the kids, and I stayed in a two-bedroom suite. It was perfect! We had two balconies, two bathrooms, two queen-size beds and a pull-out couch for sleeping. We even had a full kitchenette with a dining table. We couldn’t have asked for a better space to enjoy three nights.

Each morning we enjoyed complimentary breakfast from their buffet, the kids grabbed crayons and colouring sheets, and we enjoyed a relaxing morning with everything we could have needed.

The highlight for the kids was the hot tub and lap pool. There is a second hot tub that is adult-only too! The outdoor saltwater lap pool spans across the back deck, creating a large space for the kids to swim and play or for adults to swim laps.

When coming to stay with skis and snowboards you can enjoy their slope-side valet ski storage. On our list next!

Tip to keep in mind when planning your holiday: if you book during the week, you will gain more savings on your stay compared to weekend trips. We’d definitely recommend staying over for the Sunday night to watch the Fire and Ice show, noted below.

Things to do in Whistler with Kids during Winter

  1. Vallea Lumina — I was SO excited to bring the kids to this. I’ve heard so many great things about it and we were finally getting the chance to experience it ourselves. Yes! As you can see in a few photos below, the lights are so beautiful and captivating, but what you can’t see is the sounds that go along with them and the way the lights change colour with the music. All your senses get to work while you explore this winter walk with Vallea Lumina.

  2. The Pools at Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre — This is where we spent most of our time during our stay. So many times I find that we travel and don’t spend nearly enough time enjoying the hotel amenities. This trip we soaked up as much as we could, literally, ha! We even discovered that our hotel access at Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre also gave us access to the pools at the Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside.

  3. Fire and Ice Show — I’d never heard of this before until we checked in (Sunday afternoon) and the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre employee shared about the Fire and Ice show and how we could view the show really well from the Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside Pool deck (the sister hotel to where we stayed, Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre). She gave us an amazing tip and we were able to watch the show and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate.

  4. Superfly Ziplines — Home to two of Canada’s longest ziplines, at over 1km long. Say what! Another adventure for kids over seven (have to wait til next year when Sophie is old enough), as the speeds can reach over 100 km an hour. It’s a fun one for the big kids and adults. It looks absolutely unreal!

  5. Snowboarding & Skiing — Whether your kids know how to snowboard or you are looking to get them started in lessons, Whistler has it all for you. As a kid I went snowboarding for my very first time at Whistler through a program with my youth group. I remember absolutely loving it!

  6. Splitz Grill — My oldest picked out this spot from the list of restaurants that were in a dining guide and it did not disappoint. I got the lentil veggie burger and he got the kids’ burger; they were both so good! Ezra even claimed it to be “one of the best burgers he’d ever had.” Not only are their burgers super delicious, but their milkshakes are the biggest cherry on top. Made with your choice of ice cream from the freezer of flavours right before your eyes. My only suggestion would be for younger kids to split a meal and shake because the sizes are quite large!

  7. Whistler’s Coca-Cola Tube Park — Great for the big kids and adults! (Visitors must be over seven). Looking to get some energy out? You can go tubing by the hour or two hour slots. The best part is all you need to do is dress warm and show up! There is no equipment needed, as they have everything there for you.

  8. Skating at Whistler Olympic Plaza — Bring your skates and you have a free activity, or you can rent them for $7 a set. This outdoor skating rink can occupy 150 skaters, making it quite a large area to twirl around in. It doesn’t matter if you have the skills or not, what matters is if you make the most of it. There is also a snow play zone adjacent to the skating area for those that aren’t interested in skates.

This list only scrapes the surface of things to do in Whistler with kids during the winter, truthfully I didn’t want to fill it up with too many things. I noticed something on this trip that I hadn’t on others. It’s not about all the things that you can jam in with kids, it’s how much time you make to enjoy and connect with them during those activities.

So while you are out exploring and making these memories with your kids, make sure that you aren’t too focused on what’s next and just breathe in that crisp air, get your hair wet with them in the hotel pool, and cross the things off that are most important.
