I’ve travelled to Las Vegas five times and this trip was my very first time viewing the Las Vegas Neon Museum, or some like the call it “The Neon Boneyard”. After hearing about it and then looking up photos I knew it was “the thing to see” this trip.
Our trip was very much consumed with a lot of work. Paige, Little Bean + Co., and I attended the ABC kids Expo, though we did have a little bit of time for fun. On our last day we decided to check out the Neon Museum. Let me tell you, I am so glad we did! — Thanks for that suggestion Paige!
If you have limited time in Las Vegas for the tourist things, I would highly suggest this as a must see (along with Old Vegas, Fremont Street, which is very close by the Neon Museum).

Buy your tickets online
We looked aline and saw that there were a lot of spaces left in the time slot that we wanted to see. We decided to just purchase when we arrived. However, upon arrival it was already booked and we had to wait for the next tour time. (I believe they run every 20 minutes ish.

Go pee first
If you have been drinking, I believe most will have, make sure that you go to the bathroom before your tour starts. You can go leave to pee on the tour, but you will miss things. The tour does not stop if someone has to go pee and once you see something you don’t get to see it again, so you do not want to have any potty breaks, trust me.
-
Use their Shade Umbrellas (or wear a hat)
Take them seriously when they say there is not much shade on the tour and that an umbrella is recommended. It was HOT! We went in the middle of October, so FOR SURE if you are going in the summer, it might seem silly but just do it.
-
Take Photos Along the Way
The tour guide might say that there is plenty of time to take photos after the tour, but there really isn’t. At the end you can only take photos in the courtyard, and in my option everything photo worthy is along the way, especially if you want to get a shot in between the rows. The best time for this is when you get to the end of the first row, see below.

Be Quick
If you are taking a lot of photos be quick, you don’t get much time at all. The tour guide moves quickly, hang to the back of the group so you can get shots where others aren’t in the way and make sure you set up your camera for the light along the way (when shooting manual).

It’s One Hour Long
Each tour is one hour long and it does go quick. There is a lot to learn about so be ready to absorb a lot of information and history about Las Vegas and neon signage.

Night or Day
Tours operate both in the night and during the day. Both would be amazing to see so think about which is highest on your list. My next trip to Las Vegas I already have “visit the Las Vegas Neon Museum at Night” on my list.
It really was such a highlight of our recent trip and I am so glad that we spent the money ($20 ish). One thing I learnt along the tour was that The Flamingo is actually the longest standing hotel on the strip. We stayed in the Flamingo this trip so that was pretty cool!
You will learn a lot about the history of Las Vegas, both old and new. Attention history nuts, bring a notebook and pen because you will want to jot down the information that is shared. Hope you have a great Las Vegas trip, Enjoy!
*Note: I would not recommend children to attend. I imagined my children being there after we went and was glad that I could enjoy it without them running around. I’d be there worrying about them touching things or finding bits of broken glass and not able to focus.
[…] ready the next morning? Honestly, does that ever happen? It did for me, the day before I left for Las Vegas I used the full line of Honey Treasures by Garnier in the shower and left my hair to dry overnight. […]
